Cafe Hilgenfeld in Erfurt

You have to like this café ... The atmosphere is magical and the coffee is fantastic. I also strongly recommend taking some coffee (beans or ground) with you. Choosing coffee types from all over the world is the hardest task 😊.

Very good service and extremely friendly you are served. Prices are average for Erfurt. There are places outside and inside. Even if the train passes it, it is still highly recommended. I would recommend it to others

Hilgenfeld is a cult. Small cafe with specialty coffee sales. View of and around the cathedral. So the heart of Erfurt. Relaxed audience, who likes to populate the tables in front of the café even at low temperatures. If you fancy cake, get the next door and eat it in the café. No problem. So: if the Hilgenfeld didn't exist, you would have to invent it.

The staff has to learn how to deal with guests. My cappuccino and cake were as shown in the picture, very unsympathetic in front of me. The coffee and cake were totally normal. Not something special. The decor is nice.

I was with my friend on Friday in this small cafe. We were pleasantly surprised. The coffee is very good, the cake assortment just top everything fresh and appetizing. It is a pity that it is self-service. Nevertheless, a visit is always worthwhile. I wish the team further success, nice guests and good sales.

Very delicious coffee! The selection is really high quality and belongs to the best in Erfurt for me. Unfortunately the service is not that convincing. Waiting time is sometimes too long although the seats are limited. Nevertheless highly recommended!

Cozy cafe with sympathetic staff. There are delicious cakes and solid coffee. In any case, the many roasts from our own production are great. The variants range from light to dark and come in part from organic farming. So far, I've tried the Münchhausen, Kenya and Peru mixes, with the latter two especially convincing. :)

I was surprised how good the coffee is in here. Especially in Germany where coffee is bad. Me ,and my family visited Germany for four years. We didn’t find any good coffee, but this time we finally found it. What an adventure for a good coffee.

We went to Café Hilgenfeld at the Domplatz yesterday. I really wanted to go as it is mentioned in the Coffee Guide 2018. The four of us had two espresso macchiatos and two double espressos. When they arrived the aroma was good, smelled chocolaty. The volume seemed too much for the double espressos and it tasted very bitter/overextracted. We left without saying anything but at the same time we were never asked how it tasted after paying. I was also a bit horrified to see mouldy coffee beans on their display/for sale wall. I really hope that this was just a bad day for them...

Bring your own food/snack and get your coffee - seriously!

Delicious coffee from all over the world and great atmosphere. I always enjoy being there: soaking up the sun outside and enjoying the end of the day.
